Attach and retrieve record files

Attachments belong to a CRM record and inherit access checks from that parent as well as attachment permissions. Uploading a file and making it available for download are separate steps when scanning is required.

Keep supporting customer files associated with the right record and understand quarantine status.

  • Access to the parent CRM record.

  • Attachment create permission for upload or view permission for retrieval.

  • An allowed file within the configured size limit.

  1. Open the customer record and select Attachments.

  2. Choose the upload control, select the intended file and review its name and size before submitting.

  3. Wait for metadata and scan status to appear. Refresh after background scanning where necessary.

  4. Download only when the application makes the file available. Confirm that you have opened the intended record before sharing a downloaded copy.

  5. If the file is blocked, inspect its status and ask an administrator to review the configured scanner and policy.

  6. Use the delete action only when authorized and after confirming that the correct file is selected.

The file is stored privately with its record association and controlled availability.

  • New files may remain pending or unavailable until scanning completes; a successful upload is not a clean-scan result.

  • Configured upload limits default to 10 MiB with a bounded maximum. The installation may use a stricter limit.

  • Removing access to the parent record can also remove attachment access.

  • Soft deletion and byte-retention cleanup are operational concerns; do not promise immediate physical erasure.

  • Upload too large: use an approved smaller file or ask about the installation limit.

  • Download blocked: inspect scan state; do not work around a quarantine warning.

  • File not found: confirm the parent record, current access and deletion status.
